Frequently Asked Questions
What is new urbanism?
New Urbanism is a planning and development approach based on the principles of how cities and towns had been built for the last several centuries: walkable blocks and streets, housing and shopping in close proximity, and accessible public spaces. In other words: New Urbanism focuses on human-scaled urban design.

How will traffic be controlled?
New Urbanist streets are designed for people—rather than just cars—and accommodate multimodal transportation including walking, bicycling, transit use, and driving. We believe in providing plazas, squares, sidewalks, cafes, and porches to host daily interaction and public life.

Will the proposed plan include income qualified housing?
The proposed plan will provide a mix of market-rate housing types and price points. The plan focuses on serving the “Missing Middle”; this term describes providing more housing choice and additional amenities that, since the middle of the 20th century, have been ignored by most of the suburban development industry of single type subdivisions or large suburban apartment complexes. In order to accomplish this, the plan derives housing choices based on the historic building types from the late 19th century and early 20th century neighborhoods that today still offer wonderful options, including large estate homes, medium size homes, small cottages, townhouses, two family houses, small apartment houses and buildings, and even cottage courts.
